Virtual Machines page in the KVM Overview view
The Virtual Machines page provides an overview of all available VMs in the KVM virtualization environment, and displays total and used capacity for core metrics.
To access this page, in the TrueSight console, select Capacity > Views > Virtualization > KVM > Overview > Virtual Machines.

Viewing the Virtual Machines table
The KVM Virtual Machines table lists all KVM VMs present in all KVM hosts (unless filtered through the hosts filter) in the selected domain.
- By default, the metric tables in this view are filtered on all domains. Use the domain filter options to select the required domain from the table.
- By default, the summarization time range for all metrics is set to Last 30 days. Use the time filter options controls to select an alternate range.
For detailed information on how to use filters, see Using-filtering-options-in-the-TrueSight-console.
Each row corresponds to a KVM VM and shows the following information:

Viewing details of a particular KVM VM
Click the name of the KVM VM under the VM column in the Virtual Machines table. The following VM details are displayed:
- General details: General host details, such as name, type, description and number of elements within it are displayed at the top of the page.
- Tags panel: Displays tags, if any, that are associated with the cluster. For more information, see Working-with-tag-filters.
- Related Information: Clicking the links in the Related Information panel displays additional details related to the selected VM.
- Virtual Node: Clicking on the link takes you to the server details page for the selected virtual node entity. This link is enabled when the administrator has completed the following tasks:
- Collected the virtual node data:
1. Install a Capacity Agent inside the VM from which you want to collect metrics.
2. Configure the Gateway Server and Capacity Agent to initiate data collection.
3. Configure and use the out-of-the-box BMC-TrueSight-Capacity-Optimization-Gateway-VIS-files-parser to collect the required metrics from the VM.
- Installed the Servers view and granted the necessary permissions to access these views.
- Collected the virtual node data:
- Thresholds: Clicking on the link cross-launches to the Capacity Optimization console and take you to the Thresholds page for the selected VM. For more information, see Configuring-and-managing-thresholds-for-metrics-and-indicators.
- Virtual Node: Clicking on the link takes you to the server details page for the selected virtual node entity. This link is enabled when the administrator has completed the following tasks:
Summary information: The Summary tab, that is displayed by default, displays details for the selected cluster in a horizontal summary table, as well as charts.
Analysis charts: Core metrics for the selected entity are displayed as analysis charts, depending on available data. At the bottom of each chart is a link that takes you to the Data Explorer view for the specific resource type, and displays charts and information for a larger set of metrics.
To return to this page, click
located towards the top-right side in the Data Explorer tab.
For more information, see Hosts page in the Data Explorer view.
- Configuration Details: The Configuration Details tab displays the configuration metrics for the cluster.

Using data filter and other controls in tables
You can sort and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on.
For more information, see Sorting-a-table-in-the-TrueSight-console and Using-filtering-options-in-the-TrueSight-console.
