KVM views
KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) data is collected and processed using Gateway Server, and it can be imported into TrueSight Capacity Optimization by using the BMC - TrueSight Capacity Optimization Gateway VIS files parser ETL. The Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization - Extractor service can also be used to import KVM data.
All TrueSight Capacity Optimization functionalities such as data analysis, time forecast modeling, and reporting can be performed for the KVM data using the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console.
The TrueSight console provides the KVM views that provide at-a-glance summary of the KVM hosts and the partitions that run in the hosts. These views provide reports and charts of key capacity metrics, total and free capacity metrics are reported for CPU, memory and storage sub-systems.
Prerequisites
Ensure that the administrator has completed the following tasks:
For information about views in the TrueSight console, see Accessing-and-using-capacity-views-in-the-TrueSight-console.
Certified data sources
BMC-TrueSight-Capacity-Optimization-Gateway-VIS-files-parser is the certified data source for the KVM views. You can also use Red-Hat-Enterprise-Virtualization-Extractor-service to import KVM data. The RHEV ETL displays data from the Physical View of a KVM system, whereas, the Agent displays data from the Virtual View of the same system.
You must configure and run these ETL modules to import data into the view.
Data visibility
The KVM view displays data for all systems of the following types:
- Virtual Host - KVM
- Virtual Machine - KVM
