Virtual Machines page in the Hyper-V Overview view
The Hyper-V Virtual Machines view provides an overview of the available virtual machines in the Hyper-V virtualization environment, including details about vCPU density, CPU and memory utilization, memory configured, and more.
The following figure shows the Hyper-V Virtual Machines view:

To access the Hyper-V Virtual Machines view in the TrueSight console, in the navigation panel, select > Capacity Views > Virtualization > Hyper-V > Overview > Virtual Machines tab.
Viewing the Hyper-V VMs table
The Hyper-V VMs table lists all available Virtual Machines.
- By default, the metric tables in this view are filtered on all domains. Use the domain filter options to select the required domain from the table.
- By default, the summarization time range for all metrics is set to Last 30 days. Use the time filter options to select an alternate range. The available options are:
- Last 30 days: Displays data for the last 30 days, excluding today.
- Last 7 days: Displays data for the last 7 days, excluding today.
- Yesterday: Displays data for the previous day, excluding today.
- Define Period: Lets you define a custom time range. Use the calendar to select the start and end dates for your custom time period. This option is not available for all views.
- By default, some table columns are hidden. You can show or hide columns using the action menu
that is located next to the table title.
For information on how to sort columns, see Sorting-a-table-in-the-TrueSight-console. For information on how to use filters, see Using filtering options in views on the TrueSight console.
Each row corresponds to a Hyper-V virtual machine and shows the following information:

Viewing details page for a Hyper-V virtual machine
To view the details page for a particular Hyper-V Virtual Machine, click the Virtual machine name in the Hyper-V column in the view table.
The details page for each virtual machine displays the following information:
- General details: General virtual machine details, such as name, type, description are displayed at the top of the page.
- Related Information panel: Clicking the links in the Related Information panel displays additional details related to the selected VM.
- Virtual Node: Clicking on the link takes you to the server details page for the selected virtual node entity. This link is enabled when the administrator has completed the following tasks:
- Collected the virtual node data:
1. Install a Capacity Agent inside the VM from which you want to collect metrics.
2. Configure the Gateway Server and Capacity Agent to initiate data collection.
3. Configure and use the out-of-the-box BMC-TrueSight-Capacity-Optimization-Gateway-VIS-files-parser to collect the required metrics from the VM.
- Installed the Servers view and granted the necessary permissions to access these views.
- Collected the virtual node data:
- Thresholds: Clicking on the link cross-launches to the Capacity Optimization console and take you to the Thresholds page for the selected VM. For more information, see Configuring-and-managing-thresholds-for-metrics-and-indicators.
- Virtual Node: Clicking on the link takes you to the server details page for the selected virtual node entity. This link is enabled when the administrator has completed the following tasks:
- Tags panel: Displays tags, if any, that are associated with the cluster. For more information, see Working-with-tag-filters.
Summary information: The Summary tab, that is displayed by default, displays performance details for the selected virtual machine in a horizontal summary table, as well as charts.
Core metrics for the selected entity are displayed as analysis charts, depending on available data. At the bottom of each chart is a link that takes you to the Data Explorer view for the specific resource type, and displays charts and information for a larger set of metrics. For more information, see Virtual-Machine-page-in-the-Hyper-V-Data-Explorer-view.
You can download charts, annotate them, print them, and so on. For more information, see Managing-charts.
- Configuration Details: The Configuration Details tab displays the configuration metrics for the virtual machine.

Using data filters and other controls in tables
You can sort and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on. For more information, see Sorting-a-table-in-the-TrueSight-console
You can choose to display data of a particular host in the virtual machines by using the host filter option. For more information, see Using-filtering-options-in-the-TrueSight-console.
