Adding what-if events to a time forecasting model scenario
This topic describes how to add what-if events to a time forecasting model scenario. For details on time forecasting models, see Working-with-time-forecasting-models.
What-if event analysis shows how a prediction scenario changes if:
- There were planned or unplanned events in the system data, such as hardware upgrades and increased storage size
- General events occur, such as an increase in the business driver
The following video (3:38) illustrates how you can add a what-if event to a time forecasting model scenario, and view results.
To add a what-if event to a time forecasting model scenario
- On the time forecasting model scenario detail page, next to What-if events, click Add what-if event.
Event type: Select the type of what-if event you are adding to the scenario and enter information for all required parameters. Some parameters are common for all event types, while some are displayed only when you select a specific event type.
Common parameters: The following are the common parameters valid for all event types:
- Event type description: An auto generated description for the currently selected event type.
- (For system series) Systems: Select the systems from you want to include in this event. Use Click+drag, Ctrl+click or Shift+click to select multiple systems.
- (For business driver series) Business Drivers: Select business drivers to include in this event.

Event type specific parameters:
- Define the remaining parameters for the event as described in the Parameters column of the preceding table.
The parameters that you can define are determined by the selection you make under Event type. - Click Save.
Where to go from here
After adding one or more what-if events to a time forecasting scenario, you can re-run the scenario. See Running-a-time-forecasting-model-scenario.
