Editing and maintaining models


You can access and manage existing models from the detail page of a model. The following section describe how to complete the following procedures:

To access the detail page of a model

To perform common actions on an existing model, open its detail page by clicking the model name from the Workspace > All Domains > domainName > Works section of the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console.

From this page, you can perform the following operations:

  • Edit the model by clicking Edit in the model's detail page.
  • Delete the model by clicking Delete on the model's detail page.
  • Copy or move the model to another domain by clicking Copy or Move on the model's detail page.
  • Edit the model and view system resources.
  • On the model's detail page, view, edit and add Prediction scenarios

To edit a model

  1. In the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, click Workspace > All Domains> domainName  > Works folder.
  2. To edit a model, complete one of the following actions to select a model:
    • In the navigation pane, expand the Works folder and click on the model you want to edit. In the model's detail page that opens in the work area, click editoption.pngEdit.
    • In the navigation pane, click the Works folder. In the Works table displayed in the work area, click editoption.pngEdit this model corresponding to the model you want to edit.
  3. In the Edit model page, edit properties, such as:

    • Name
    • Description
    • Access Mode
    • Folder

    Note

    The properties available for editing will differ slightly based on the type of model.

  4. Click Save to confirm your changes.

To add a new scenario to a model

Before running a prediction, you will need to create a scenario. For an introduction to models and scenarios, see Modeling-capacity-usage.

  1. Click Workspace > All Domains > domainName > Works.
  2. In the Works table, click the appropriate model name in the working area on the right.
  3. Click add_scenario.pngAdd scenario found at the top of the Prediction scenarios table on the model's detail page.
  4. In the Add a new scenario page, specify the properties as required. 
    Depending on the model type, the page may be available in Basic or Advanced mode. Basic properties are essential, while advanced properties are optional.
    The available properties vary depending on the chosen model.

  5. Click Save to create the scenario.

To run a scenario

You can run a scenario by accessing the scenario's detail page by navigating to Workspace > All Domains > domainName > Works. In the Works table on the right, click the appropriate model name and then in the Prediction scenarios table, click the scenario name. Click Run in the tools and links bar of the scenario's detail page. The name may vary depending on the chosen model. For example, the name might show as Run forecast for a Time Forecasting model.

A summary of the results is presented in the Execution summary table.

The Download to Excel option allows you to download an XLS file summarizing the table data. You can open the graphs by clicking on the chart thumbnails.

Additional information

The Promote to Golden option, only visible to administrators, lets you schedule the scenario to be run at set intervals (daily, weekly or monthly). Configuring a scenario as Golden also publish custom statistics that let you trace the trend of results. For more information, see Working-with-custom-statistics.

Note

When forecasted value ## days after execution time options are selected, the value for the statistic is saved only if the model produces a forecast value at that date. For this, ensure that the forecasting forward period, in the scenario configuration, is long enough to produce the forecast value. The statistic is stored using the execution date as reference. If there are data gaps in the input series, due to a data collection delays, the statistic might not be generated because the forecasting period starts from the last available sample in the input series.
