Follow the sequence in this section to upgrade the TrueSight Capacity Optimization product.
Upgrade process — At a glance
Upgrade process
Step 1: Prepare for TrueSight Capacity Optimization upgrade
Complete the pre-upgrade tasks to ensure a successful upgrade.
Step 2: Upgrade Remedy Single Sign-On
Remedy Single Sign-On (Remedy SSO) acts as the authentication tool to manage tenants (realms), user groups, and users for TrueSight Capacity Optimization and TrueSight Cloud Cost Control (If licensed).
If you are upgrading TrueSight Capacity Optimization from a version earlier than 11.0, see Migrating-to-Remedy-SSO.
Step 3: Upgrade TrueSight Presentation Server
TrueSight Presentation Server provides the framework for many features of TrueSight Capacity Optimization and TrueSight Cloud Cost Control (If licensed).
The TrueSight Capacity Optimization 20.02 is supported with TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.01 and its service packs and patches. BMC recommends that you apply the most recent service pack or patch to get the latest updates to the product.
Step 4: Upgrade TrueSight Capacity Optimization Application Server and ETL Engine
The Application Server provides the communication bus for all other TrueSight Capacity Optimization components. The ETL Engine is required for collecting data from third-party data sources or from the Gateway Server.
(Optional) Step 5: Upgrade TrueSight Capacity Optimization Gateway Server
The Gateway Server, along with the Capacity Agents, collects data from the managed systems in your environment. A managed system is a computer on which a Capacity Agent is installed.
If the Gateway Server is installed in your environment, you must upgrade it to the latest version.
(Optional) Step 6: Upgrade TrueSight Capacity Optimization Capacity Agent
A Capacity Agent collects data from the managed systems in your environment. After collecting data, the Agent transfers it to the Gateway Server.
Step 7: Complete the post-upgrade activities
Complete the post-upgrade activities to make your TrueSight Capacity Optimization product functional.
What next?
You can upgrade the security in your enterprise environment by using TLS to communicate with the TrueSight Capacity Optimization components. To add the transport layer protection and to secure communication between the TrueSight Capacity Optimization components, enable TLS server certificate validation between the TrueSight Capacity Optimization components.
