20.02.02 CHF3 updates

The following updates are available only when you apply Cumulative Hotfix 3 or later on Patch 2 (20.02.02) of TrueSight Capacity Optimization 20.02:

Improved Azure ETL and recommendations

The Microsoft Azure - Azure API Extractor now supports to import the high mark metrics. For increased accuracy, Azure recommendations are generated based on indicators that are computed by using these high-mark metrics.

Enable TLS server certificate validation in the Gateway Server and Continuous Optimization Agents for secure communication

Download the BMC Helix Continuous Optimization Agents and Gateway Server version 23.4.00 that are supported with TrueSight Capacity Optimization version 20.02.02. Enable TLS version 1.3 certificates to secure communication between these components to be used with TrueSight Capacity Optimization. You can configure TLS during or after the installation of these components. For details, see Support-for-BMC-Helix-Continuous-Optimization-agents-and-Gateway-Server and Enabling-TLS-server-certificate-validation-between-BMC-Helix-Continuous-Optimization-Agents-and-the-Gateway-Server.

Support for TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.07

The Support for TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.07 is added for TrueSight Capacity Optimization 20.02.02. For details, see Compatibility-matrix.

The Kubernetes-view is enhanced to display the additional columns for the MEM_REAL_UTIL metric.

20.02.02 CHF2 updates

The following updates are available only when you apply Cumulative Hotfix 2 or later on Patch 2 (20.02.02) of TrueSight Capacity Optimization 20.02:

Configure a custom Optimizer rule to notify alerts to specific business owners

Configure a custom Optimizer rule to automatically retrieve the recipient email addresses that are specified for the alerted entities in a data mart column. When the Optimizer rule conditions are satisfied, email notifications are sent to respective business owners of the alerted entities. For details, see Adding-a-custom-Optimizer-rule.

Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8

The support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 is added for the Application Server and ETL Engine. For a list of all supported operating systems, see System-requirements-for-the-Application-Server-and-ETL-Engine.

Import metrics from the following storage systems:

Hitachi GUM (REST), Scality RING (REST), and Hitachi G Series (REST)

Import the following UID configuration metrics for each entity:

  • Cluster: CLUSTER_UUID
  • Namespace: NAMESPACE_UUID
  • Deployment: CONTROLLER_UUID
  • Node: NODE_UUID
  • Pod Workload: WORKLOAD_UUID
  • Persistent Volume: PV_UUID

Support for Splunk 9

  • Specify the childMetrics property on the parent nodes to add configuration metrics to child nodes
  • Create a root domain by adding the rootAppMetric property to the root node

Import the WEB_ACTIVE_SESSIONS or USERS_CURRENT metric as TOTAL_EVENTS for the Business Services view

  • Import the max aggregation statistic for the CPU and memory usage metrics for the Cluster, Namespace, Controller, Pod Workload, and Node entities for these metrics:
    • Derived: MEM_UTIL_REQUEST, MEM_UTIL_LIMIT, CPU_UTIL_REQUEST, CPU_UTIL_LIMIT
    • MEM_USED, MEM_KLIMIT, MEM_REQUEST, CPU_LIMIT, CPU_REQUEST
  • Import the following Kubernetes LimitRange configuration metrics for the Namespaces entities: MEM_LIMITRANGES and CPU_LIMITRANGES

Enhanced Moviri - K8S (Kubernetes) Prometheus extractor

The Moviri – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus Extractor is enhanced to include additional strong lookup fields for identifying entities while using the Kubernetes API.

  • Enhancement to stop importing the BYIMAGE metrics by default.
  • A filter for pod workloads. You can filter the workloads data by using the namespace deny list.

Support to import data from the HPE Primera and HPE 3PAR storage systems.

The ST_SYSTEM_PORT_NUM metric for the license count now includes 2 front-end ports per node.

The ST_AGGREGATE_COMMITTED_CAPACITY_PCT metric now reports the percentage of capacity committed to the NetApp volumes. 

Enhanced NetApp Systems view

The Aggregates page in the NetApp Systems View now reports the percentage of capacity committed to the NetApp volumes.

Enhanced Kubernetes Prometheus ETL

The Kubernetes Prometheus ETL is enhanced to include these updates:

  • Updated the ETL to stop importing the BYIMAGE metrics by default.
  • Added filter for pod workloads. You can filter the workloads data by using the namespace deny list.
