UNIX CPU metrics

The following CPU-related metric groups are available for UNIX and Linux systems:

CPU Statistics

The CPU Statistics metric group provides information on the status of CPU activity (such as CPU wait, CPU idle) during a sampling interval. This metric group has one record per processor. You can create a condition to give the total number of processors. The metrics are described in the table below.

In Analyze, you may use the CPU Statistics metric group as an alternative to the System Statistics group if the latter group is returning bad data points (such as a sudden large spike in data). Bad data points can occur when partitions are added or removed during a collection.

 Metric group: CPU Statistics

CPU Configuration

The CPU Configuration metric group describes the relationship between threads and cores or cores and sockets. The metrics are described in the following table.

 Metric group: CPU Configuration

1 metric is valid on Solaris 10 (where available) and higher for systems running on T-series CPUs.
