The General Manager Lite tool summarizes the results for all Gateway Servers and displays logs for the nodes with errors. Using this tool, you can:
- Monitor the collection, transfer, processing, and status of the nightly Manager runs.
- Provide a time series view.
- View the stability of the environment over the last 30 days (by default).
- Track the progression of the data into the Capacity Optimization database.
To know more about the General Manager Lite tool, see the following sections:
Prerequisites
Requirements to use the General Manager Lite tool:
- TrueSight Capacity OptimizationGateway Server console
- Environment variable to create the recovery scripts: BEST1_HOME=/usr/adm/best1_<version number> or /usr/adm/best1_<version number>
General Manager Lite provides an overview of the nightly data flow in a text-formatted email that is sent daily. It also provides an additional detail level breakdown of the status at the domain level of the manager run.
To implement the General Manager Lite tool using the BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl script:
Run the following command and provide the requested information:
> $BEST1_HOME/bgs/scripts/BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl
WarningTo get a status of the ETL execution, you require an Oracle client and a connection to the BCO database. Enter a user name and password for the database. For details, see the sample file below.
The Gateway Manager Lite tool is configured as part of the installation, but without the connection to the database. If you have an Oracle database and want to get the ETL status, you must install the appropriate oracle client on the Gateway Server and rerun the BCO_BPAStatusAndRecoveryManager.pl script with the BCO database connection parameters.
General Manager Lite tool is available only for Linux Gateway Server implementations.
PostgreSQL implementation is not supported for ETL execution status.

Understanding the results
The Summary section at the top displays the change between today's data flow and the previous day data flow. Whenever there is a significant change in the success rate of data collection, BMC recommends that you look into it on priority.
