To configure an Optimizer rule to send events to TrueSight Operations Management

  1. Ensure that TrueSight Capacity Optimization is configured to send events to TrueSight Operations Management.
  2. Define a new Optimizer rule or modify an existing rule (Adding-a-template-based-Optimizer-rule) as per the following points:
    • Ensure that the rules are based on the out-of-the-box rule templates.
    • In the Template group, ensure that you select from one of the following template groups:
      • AIX Virtualization
The AIX Virtualization template group enables you to select AIX Virtualization- LPAR File System Used or LPAR Saturation. Selecting one of these templates automatically updates the alert rule with the predefined filters, conditions, and actions associated with the templates available for that group.
      • Solaris Virtualization
The Solaris Virtualization template group enables you to select Solaris Virtualization- LDOM File System Used or LDOM Saturation. Selecting one of these templates automatically updates the alert rule with the predefined filters, conditions, and actions associated with the template available for that group.
      • VMware Virtualization
The VMware Virtualization template group enables you to select VMware Virtualization,Virtual Guest SaturationCluster SaturationHost Saturation or VM File System Saturation. Selecting one of these templates automatically updates the alert rule with the predefined filters, conditions, and actions associated with the template available for that group.

        Notes

        • All the LPAR Saturation, LDOM Saturation, VMware Virtualization, Virtual Guest Saturation, Cluster Saturation, and Host Saturation templates will use CPU and memory utilization.
        • The events for AIX and Solaris use utilization and configuration information from TrueSight Operations Management, where as events for VMWare use information from VCenter.
    • In the Actions tab, ensure that you select Publish events to TrueSight Operations Management.

The Publish events to TrueSight Operations Management option is available only if you configure the TrueSight Operations Management details in the Global configuration page. For more information, see To integrate events from TrueSight Capacity Optimization into TrueSight Operations Management.
