Running data through the Windows Gateway Server Analyze component
Regardless of the collection method chosen, if the data collection and transfer were successful, the collected UDR data will be on the managing node. If you run data through Analyze, you can view the following reports that will help you check the success of the data collection process.
- Run Summary
- Process Aggregation
- Process Detail
- Process Tree
- Transaction Utilization
- Workload Composition
To run the data through Analyze
- Right-click the Analyze component in the scope pane and select New Workload Characterization.
Proceed through the wizard, entering a title and description for the workload characterization file. Accept all defaults. When you click Finish, this will start the New Computer wizard. This is where you will select the computers for which you have already collected data. - Click Next on the welcome dialog box of the New Computer wizard.
- Accept all defaults on the second page and click Next.
- Select the computers you want represented in your workload characterization file. The following figure shows a workload characterization file called test.
Sample Workload Characterization File
- Right-click the workload characterization file and select Start Analyze.
Additionally, during data collection, Collect writes a log file, named computername-bgscollect.exe-noinstance.log, to the directory C:\Program Files\BMC\Patrol3\BEST1\version\bgs\log. This file logs the operations performed by the collector during a data collection run. If you determine that the collection failed to start, this log file is a good place to begin trouble-shooting.
