Adding, removing, and inspecting Gateway Server details
After the Gateway Service is enabled, add the Gateway Servers that you want to manage. The Gateway Server Management feature enables you to manage the Gateway Servers. Using this feature, you can:
- Add a Gateway Server
- Remove a Gateway Server
- Check the status of available Gateway Servers
To view the Gateway Servers, select Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Servers. For more information, see the following sections:
Viewing Gateway Servers
To view the Gateway Servers:
Select Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Servers.
The Gateway Server page displays the Gateway Servers table that has the following information:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Gateway Server | Name of the Gateway Server. Click the Gateway Server name to view details of a Gateway Server and manage the gateway server agent lists. For more details, see Viewing details of a Gateway Server and Managing the gateway server agent lists. |
Port | Port on which the Gateway Server is configured. |
Mode | Protocol used by the Gateway Server, such as HTTP, HTTPS, or TLS. |
Status | Indicates whether the Gateway Server is Active or Inactive. |
Viewing details of a Gateway Server
To view details of a Gateway Server:
Select Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Servers > gatewayserverName.
The Gateway Server Details page is displayed that has the following information:
Field | Description |

Description | Name of the Gateway Server. |
Version | Version of the Gateway Server. |
Operating system | Operating system on which the Gateway Server is installed. |
ETL management | Indicates whether the Gateway Server is enrolled in Auto-create ETL. |
Status | Shows whether the Gateway Server is Active or Inactive. |
Port | Port on which the Gateway Server is configured. |
Process rollup | Indicates whether the Gateway Server is enrolled for process rollup or not. If the Gateway Server is enrolled for process rollup, it indicates the time at which rollup is scheduled to be performed on a daily basis. For more details about managing process rollup, see Aggregating-process-level-data-for-views. |
On the Gateway Server Details page, you can also:
- View and manage ETLs. For more details, see Automatically-creating-ETLs.
- View and manage gateway server agent list. For more details, see Managing-the-Gateway-Server-agent-list.
- Manage process rollup. For more details, see Managing process rollup.
Adding a Gateway Server
To add a Gateway Server:
- Select Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Servers.
- In the Gateway Servers table, click Add gateway server.
- Specify the following information:
- Gateway Server Name: Enter the name of the Gateway Server you want to manage through TrueSight Capacity Optimization.
- Port Number: Retain the default port number to connect to the Gateway Server. The default port is 10129.
- Service Daemon Port: Retain the default service daemon port to start the Gateway Server remotely.
This feature is currently supported for Unix only. On Windows, the Gateway Server runs as a Windows service. - Server configured for HTTPS connection: Select this check box and specify the port number to configure the HTTPS communication between the Gateway Server and the Application Server. The default port for HTTPS is 10130.
- Auto create ETLs to populate data from this Gateway Server: Retain the default selection to create a BMC-TrueSight-Capacity-Optimization-Gateway-VIS-files-parser ETLs to load data from the scheduled Manager runs of this Gateway Server.
- Click Add.
The TrueSight Capacity Optimization Wizard is displayed. - Configure the ETL parameters in the wizard. For information about the configuration parameters, see BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization wizard.
The Gateway Servers page displays the name of newly added Gateway Server.
Deleting a Gateway Server
To delete a Gateway Server from Gateway Manager:
- Select Administration > Gateway Manager > Gateway Servers.
- In the Gateway Servers table, click
to delete the required Gateway Server.
To delete all Gateway Servers, select Actions > Delete gateway servers.
