Global configuration


You can access the Global Configuration page from the Administration tab. To access, select Administration > Systems > Global Configuration. This page shows the current settings of your TrueSight Capacity Optimization installation, allowing you to edit them.

This is mainly a reference page used to get an overview of the configuration parameters, as these properties are usually set during the installation process. By default, tabs are displayed for basic configuration. When you click Advanced, all tabs available for global configuration are displayed.

The available configuration tabs are:

BMC Environment

On the BMC Environment tab, you can configure integration of TrueSight Capacity Optimization event notifications with TrueSight Operations Management.

(Advanced modeConsole

On the Console tab, you can configure database properties and user settings, such as maximum active log in sessions permitted and maximum execution time of transactions.

Notifications

On the Notifications tab, you can configure Email and SMTP notification properties, such as mail server, authentication, credentials, and protocol to be used.

Tip

On the Notifications tab, you can define multiple Administrator Email addresses and SNMP Addresses by typing a semicolon-separated list of addresses.

BMC recommends that you restart all services after any configuration changes to the email settings.

UI Defaults

On the UI Defaults tab, you can configure TrueSight Capacity Optimization default formats, such as the date format, and charts layout, and specify the scope of search.

Authentication

On the Authentication tab, you can configure whether external users can log in and the host and port numbers of Remedy SSO server and TrueSight Presentation server.

(Advanced mode) Data Hub

On the Data Hub tab, you can configure access to the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization Data Hub web services.

Data Warehouse

On the Data Warehouse tab, you can configure the TrueSight Capacity Optimization data warehouse thread properties, such as sleep period, freshness timeout, and so on.

(Advanced mode) Memory Usage

On the Memory Usage tab, you can configure the memory usage settings, for example, the limits that TrueSight Capacity Optimization applies when processing metric series, entities, and database records. The Cloud Cost Control section includes the maximum number of servers that you can simulate the migration for, in one attempt.

Editing the configuration

By clicking Edit you can modify the current configuration options. To edit a property, locate it in one of the available tabs (for example, the Data Hub tab), type a new value, and click Save.

Attention

Beware that errors while editing these settings may result in data loss or system malfunction.

Editing the system properties

To add, edit, or delete system properties, click the link within the You can manually edit system properties from this page text.

BMC recommends that only administrators with a deep understanding of the system should manage the system properties.
