Configuring alerts and recommendations

The Optimizer task is a system task that runs in the backend and generates alerts and recommendations based on the following input parameters:

• Metrics - The ETL modules collect data that is processed by the Near-Real Time Warehousing service. Depending on the systems for which recommendations are to be generated, the Optimizer task uses the required metrics from the imported data. For more information about metrics, see Understanding-metrics. For more information about data collection, see Collecting-data. 
• Indicators - The Auto forecasting service (AFS) computes indicators by using the imported data, and the metric and indicator thresholds. For more information about modifying the thresholds, see Configuring-and-managing-thresholds-for-metrics-and-indicators. For more information about indicators, see Indicators.
• Optimizer rules -  An Optimizer rule contains configurations, conditions, and actions to be performed based on the conditions. Some Optimizer rules are available out-of-the-box. You can configure these rules or define new custom rules to generate alerts and recommendations as per your requirements. You can define the actions to be taken when an alert is generated. For example, send an email. Every rule has an associated Optimizer task. For more information about Optimizer rules, see Configuring-and-managing-Optimizer-rules.

Every Optimizer task has an associated schedule. If any of these input parameters changes after the last Optimizer task run, the updated values are used in the next run of the task.

Two Optimizer tasks are available out-of-the-box with the product; one runs daily and the other one runs weekly. You can define additional Optimizer tasks too. For more information about the Optimizer task, see Configuring-the-Optimizer-task.
