Performing the Cloud Probe upgrade


Perform the following procedure to upgrade the Cloud Probe through an installation wizard. You can also upgrade the Cloud Probe silently.

To upgrade the Real User Cloud Probe on Linux

Before you run the installation utility, set up a DISPLAY environment variable.

  1. Log in as root.
  2. Extract the files from the Cloud Probe archive.
  3. Go to the Cloud Probe installation directory and run the ./setup.sh command.
  4. On the Welcome page of the installation wizard, click Next.
  5. Read the License Agreement and select I agree to the terms of the license agreement to continue.
     Click Next.
  6. You can now change the connection details for the Real User Collector or leave them as displayed on the screen, and then click Next:
    • IP address or DNS name of the computer with the Collector installation
    • Port number of the Collector (by default, 443)
    • Collector user name
    • Collector password
  7. Enter the Cloud Probe name and select the monitored network card from the list if you wish to change the settings or proceed with the existing. Click Next.

    Success

    To check, which of the available network cards (NICs) the Cloud Probe should monitor, open command line and run ifconfig command. It returns a list of the NICs on the system.

    The Cloud Probe Name can have up to 60 alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscore characters (_). The name is displayed in the Real User Collector.

  8. Review the upgrade details.
     If necessary, click Previous to change upgrade details. Otherwise, click Install.
  9. Review the details in the Installation Summary page.
     To view the installation logs, click the View Log button, or go to /tmp/cloudprobe_install_log.txt.
  10. To close the utility, click Done.

To upgrade the Real User Cloud Probe on Windows

  1. Extract the files from the Cloud Probe archive.
  2. Run the Real User Cloud Probe installation file (setup.cmd) as Administrator.
  3. On the Welcome page of the installation wizard, click Next.
  4. Read the License Agreement and select I agree to the terms of the license agreement to continue.
    Click Next.
  5. In the Real User Collector Configuration step, you can change Real User Collector  details or proceed with existing:
    • IP address or DNS name of the computer with the Collector installation
    • Port number of the Collector (by default, 443)
    • Collector user name
    • Collector password
  6. Enter the Cloud Probe name and select the monitored network card from the list if you wish to change the settings or proceed with the existing. Click Next.

    Success

    To check, which of the available network cards the Cloud Probe should monitor, open command line and run getmac /v command. It returns the list of available network cards with name, type of the connection, network adapter, physical address and so on.

    The Cloud Probe Name can have up to 60 alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscore characters (_). The name is displayed in the Real User Collector.

  7. Review the upgrade details.
    If necessary, click Previous to change upgrade details. Otherwise, click Install.
  8. Review the details in the Installation Summary page.
    To view the installation logs, click the View Log button, or go to \AppData\Local\Temp\cloudprobe_install_log.txt.
  9. To close the utility, click Done.
