Database requirements
During BMC Application Diagnostics Portal and Collector installations, you install a MySQL database locally on the same computer as the Portal or Collector host. You cannot connect to a remote database.
Required resources
Ensure that you have sufficient resources for the optimum performance of the size of your deployment.

Default Server communication ports
The following table lists the default port numbers used by the BMC Application Diagnostics Server components. The listed port numbers are the default values that you can change during installation, or change in the properties files after installation (requires restart of the service). Ensure that you can access the ports.

Minimum space requirements for App Visibility agent for Java
- Installation disk space: 10 MB
- Recommended reserved space: 30 MB per instance of the agent
Java requirements
- The computer on which you are installing the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java must have Java already installed in order for the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent installation script to run correctly.
- Ensure that the JAVA_HOME environment variable is configured with Java 1.6 or 1.7.
Supported application servers
The following application servers have been tested and certified in BMC's test environment. Only those application servers with Java 1.6 or 1.7 are supported by BMC.

Minimum space requirements for App Visibility agent for .NET
- Installation disk space: 180 MB
- Recommended reserved space: 120 MB
Supported systems for App Visibility agent for .NET
The computer on which you are installing the App Visibility agent for .NET must have IIS already installed for the App Visibility agent installation utility to run correctly.

BMC Application Management Console browser compatibility
You can access the user interface through the BMC Application Management Console with the following combinations of operating systems and web browsers. To correctly load current data for BMC Application Diagnostics in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, use the following browser configuration, based on the default settings:
- From the Internet Explorer Tools menu, select Internet Options.
- On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security list.
- Select Do not save encrypted pages to disk.
- Clear Enable DOM Storage.
- Select Use SSL 2.0.
- Clear Use SSL 3.0.
- Click OK.
Production Environment Considerations
BMC Application Diagnostics components are deployed with a Jetty web server and built-in remote diagnostics components. The components are used for a secure login by BMC personnel for Support purposes. To disable this feature, contact Customer Support.
