Installation process overview for BMC Application Diagnostics
BMC Application Diagnostics monitors and identifies performance issues in Java and Microsoft .NET enterprise web application. When integrated with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, BMC Application Diagnostics provides visibility of performance issues from an end user perspective.
For a standalone product, you install the BMC Application Management Console and access the product from the Diagnostics tab. As part of BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring environment, you access diagnostics data directly from a link in the Real User Analyzer.
Installing the standalone product includes installation of the console, BMC Application Diagnostics Server components, and agents. Integration with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring requires some additional tasks.

Before you begin
You must have all rights, permissions, and privileges to be able to install and configure BMC Application Diagnostics.
Windows
In Windows, you must be a user who belongs to the Administrator group.
Linux
In Linux, you need root privileges. You can log on as one of the following users:
- root user
- User defined in sudo file with root privilege
To deploy BMC Application Diagnostics
- Install the BMC Application Management Console.
- Prepare the environment for the Diagnostic Server installation.
- Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Server:
- Modify an Agent policy, including setting the Agent mode, and set the default policy.
Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent:
- (Optional) To deploy BMC Application Diagnostics integrated with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, continue with the integration steps.
- (Optional) Configure and activate other integrated technologies.
