Logging on for the first time

After you install the product, you complete the following activities during the initial log on:

  • Log on to the BMC Application Management Console — The required logon credentials are set when the Console component is installed.
  • Accept the EULA — The first time that someone in your organization logs on to the Console, the BMC End User License Agreement (EULA) is displayed. After the EULA is accepted, it is valid during the whole life cycle of a component instance.
  • Change your password — A Security user password is created when the Console component is installed. BMC recommends that you change the password during your first Console session.

You must log on as a user who is assigned the Security role.

To log on for the first time and change the password

  1. In the address bar of a web browser, type the URL of the BMC Application Management Console, for example 192.0.2.10.
  2. In the User Name and Password boxes, type the credentials for the Security user, and click Log on.
  3. Read the EULA and click Agree.
  4. Click the user name in the top left corner of the screen.

    The User settings page opens.
  5. On the Action menu, click Change password.

  6. In the Current password box, type changeme.
A Security user can change the default minimum password length of six characters on the Administration > Security settings > Account Policies page of the Real User Analyzer.
  7. In the New password and Confirm new password boxes, type your new password, and click Save.

Where to go from here

Create an Operator or Administrator account to perform component configuration. For management of the system, BMC recommends that you create at least one Administrator account. The Administrator role can access all features, except those related to security.

Connect the BMC Real End User Monitoring core components.
