Diagnostics Agent mode to collect end-user metrics

The BMC Application Diagnostics Agent extends monitoring capabilities to end-user metrics in internet applications, such as rich internet applications (RIAs), for either the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring product, the BMC Application Diagnostics product, or an integrated system.

Information
Recommendation

BMC recommends setting the Diagnostics Agent mode before installing the Diagnostics Agents.

The Agent deploys a web beacon to calculate the page-render times. The following table describes the parameters to set the Agent mode.

Parameters that set the Diagnostics Agent mode

Parameter

Default value

Description

agent.mode

apm

Agent monitoring mode. Possible values:

  • apm—Records diagnostics data and transactions, and collects end-user browser-side metrics.
  • euem—Collects end-user browser-side metrics. The Agent does not record diagnostics data and transactions. Select this option if you have an environment that comprises BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, without Application Diagnostics.
agent.javascript.inject.sampling.rate

50 (light policy)

100 (other policies)

(Agent for Java, only) Percentage of incoming calls on which to inject the JavaScript that enables page-render time calculations

Where to go from here

If you are integrated with the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring product and you are using the apm mode, configure web beacons for RIAs.
