Connecting the Aggregation Server to a mail server (SMTP)
Before you begin
Configure a mail server (SMTP) to enable Aggregation Server alert messages to be transmitted via a mail server.
Mail server connection security
When you configure SMTP settings, the security level that you select must correspond to the security configuration of your SMTP server. To determine the appropriate SMTP security level, use the following table or contact the mail server administrator.
SMTP server connection security levels
Connection security level | Description |
---|---|
Non-secure | No security is applied. The system sends all email messages to the SMTP server in plaintext. |
SMTPS | When the connection is established, the device uses TLS/SSL to secure the connection. This protocol typically uses port 465. |
STARTTLS | The device opens an insecure connection and then uses STARTTLS to open a secure TLS/SSL conversation. This protocol typically uses the default port 25. |
STARTTTLS (clear text if not available) | The device opens a non-secure connection and then uses STARTTLS to open a secure TLS/SSL conversation. If secure communication cannot be established, the system makes a second attempt with a non-secure connection. This protocol typically uses the default port 25. |
Before you begin
