Updating the geolocation database

The geolocation database that the system uses for geographic information about the captured traffic becomes less accurate over time. To ensure correct operation of the system features that use the geographical data (for example, the Global-Application-Delivery-dashlet), the geolocation database must be kept up to date. The Administrator role checks for updates to and updates the geolocation database for both the Analyzer and Collector components.

To download the latest geolocation database

  1. In the Real User Analyzer, point to Administration > General settings, and then click Geolocation.
  2. Click Check if newer geolocation database is available.
If a newer database than yours is available, the system prompts you to download it.
  3. Click Download and specify the save location on your computer.

You can now upload it into the device.

Keep the geolocation database up to date so that features relying on geolocation will work properly. After you have downloaded the latest database, use the following procedure to upload and install it. To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.

To upload and install the geolocation database

  1. In the Real User Analyzer, point to Administration > General settings, and then click Geolocation.
  2. On the Action menu, click Upload a new geolocation database.
  3. Click Browse and select the database archive that you downloaded.
  4. Click Save.

After you upload the geolocation database, the system reboots.

Alternatively, you can go to the Device update page of the Analyzer or Collector interface, and install updates for the geolocation database from the list of updates.
