Verifying the Diagnostics Server installation
You can verify that the BMC Application Diagnostics Server installation was successful by reviewing the log files created during the installation, and examining server processes and services.
Before you begin
You must have installed the Diagnostics Server components as described in Performing-the-Diagnostics-Server-installation (or Performing-the-Diagnostics-Server-installation-silently) and Adding-a-Diagnostics-Server-component.
To verify that the Diagnostics Server installation was successful
- Access the adopserver_install_log file which is located in the %temp% directory (Windows) and /tmp folder (Linux).
- Check for warnings or errors. If no error messages are present, the installation was successful.
- Verify that the Diagnostics Server components are running:
- (Windows) Run services.msc and verify that services are running: BMC Application Diagnostics Collector, BMC Application Diagnostics Portal, BMC Application Diagnostics APM Proxy.
(Linux) Run the following commands to verify that the processes are running:
ps -ea|grep adop_collector
ps -ea|grep adop_portal
ps -ea|grep adop_apm_proxy
- Check for errors reported in the Diagnostics Collector log files located at:
- (Windows) serverInstallationDirectory\collector\logs\collector.log
- (Linux) serverInstallationDirectory/collector/logs/collector.log
- Check for errors reported in the Diagnostics Portal log files located at:
- (Windows) serverInstallationDirectory\portal\logs\portal.log
- (Linux) serverInstallationDirectory/portal/logs/portal.log
- Check for errors reported in the APM Proxylog files located at:
- (Windows) serverInstallationDirectory\apm-proxy\logs\portal.log
- (Linux) serverInstallationDirectory/apm-proxy/logs/portal.log
- If you installed a MySQL database during installation, verify that it is running:
- (Windows) Run services.msc and check that the BMC Application Diagnostics MySQL service is running.
(Linux) Run the following command:
ps -ea |grep adop_mysql
