Connecting SAP BusinessObjects to the data warehouse


Perform the following steps to establish a connection between the data warehouse (Oracle instance) and SAP BusinessObjects.

  1. In the Oracle Client, select Configuration and Migration Tools > Net Manager.
  2. In Oracle Net Manager, click the plus ➕️ button to add a service.
  3. In the Net Service Name field of the Net Service Name Wizard, enter ERDW1, and click Next.
  4. Select the appropriate network protocol, such as TCP/IP, and click Next
  5. Enter the VM name or DNS name in the Host Name field and port 1521 in the Port Number field.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Service Name field, enter the Oracle instance name that stores the Extended Reporting data, leave the Connection Type set to Database Default, and click Next.
  8. Click Test to test the connection. 
  9. Click Change Login and enter the user name and password of the database user.  
  10. Test the connection and then close the wizard.
