Modifying an Agent policy file

This section presents parameters that you can modify in the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent policy file.

Tip

If a lock icon ico_lock_readonly.png is displayed as a file attribute, you cannot edit the policy, but you can create a copy of the file and edit the copy:

  1. From the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the pane, select Save As.
  2. Rename the policy and modify according to your requirements.

Note

Changing any of the parameters in the policy files can have a sizable impact on the footprint of the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent and the BMC Application Diagnostics Collector’s scalability and database size. BMC recommends consulting with BMC Application Diagnostics support before changing any of the parameter values.

To perform this procedure, you must have Administrator-level access, or higher, or have tenant Application Owner-level access.

To edit a policy file

  1. From the Diagnostics tab, select Administration > Agent Policies.
  2. In the Name column, click the name of an editable policy file.
Read-only files have a lock icon ico_lock_readonly.png next to the file name.
  3. On the View Agent Policy File window, from the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the pane, select Edit.
  4. On the Edit Agent Policy File window, modify the policy according to your requirements.
  5. Click Save.
  6. (Optional) Apply the policy to relevant agents or set it as a default policy.
