Editing Extended Reports

When you create an ad-hoc report to analyze the performance of your applications, you might then want to view the same set of analytical data (in the form of a set of measures) about your applications, but based on other criteria (with different dimensions that do not exist in the current performance cube, but are from another cube). For example, you have information that some pages have errors in certain browsers, and these errors come from different regions. You can investigate the issue from two different angles, by viewing the report based on data from different performance cubes to get a better idea about the problem.

To edit the SAP BusinessObjects report criteria

  1. Open the report for which you want to change the criteria (perform a performance cube switch).
The example used the following criteria for the first query:
    • Application name and Page name from the first performance cube—To locate problematic applications and pages
    • Last Week—To see the statistics for the period
    • Availability, Performance—To check specific metrics. Note that these measures are taken from the Page Only folder, because Cube App-01 is a page cube.
    • Cube App-01—Cube selector to specify the performance cube from which to take data for the report
  2. Click the Data Access tab.
  3. On the Data Providers tab, click Edit.
  4. In the Query Panel window, modify the query for the report:
    1. Remove all cube-specific objects from the Result Object pane.
In this case, objects from Cube App-01: Application name, Page Name, and the Cube App-01 selector.
    2. In the Query Panel window, select objects from another performance cube.
In this case, select the objects from Cube App-02: Application name and Region.

      Note

Although in the second report you also want to see information about the application, you cannot use the Application name object from the Cube App-01 performance cube because Application name is a performance cube-specific object.

    3. From the Selectors folder, select the performance cube on which you want to build a new report. For example, in this case, switch from Cube App-01 to Cube App-02.
    4. (Optional) Select metrics to view, for example, App Error Count, Network Error Count, and Client Error Count.
  5. Click Run query.

    Note

The report might not display the new metrics. To view the required data, from the Available Objects area, drag and drop the corresponding objects to the workspace panel so that they are displayed in the report.

A table with updated data is displayed in the workspace panel. Now you can add charts and other tables with analytical data to build your report.
