Creating ad-hoc reports in the SAP BusinessObjects BI launch pad

Besides using the preconfigured reports that you can run in SAP BusinessObjects, you can also create ad-hoc reports to analyze the availability and performance of your applications in a way that suits your needs.

To generate an ad-hoc report in the SAP BusinessObjects BI launch pad

  1. Log on to the BI launch pad.
  2. From the Applications menu, select Web Intelligence Application.
  3. Create a new Web Intelligence Document (scr_icon_new.png button).
  4. In the opened window, select Universe as the data source, and click OK.
  5. In the Universe dialog box, select EUEM.unx, and click Select.
  6. In the Query Panel window, select the following Extended Reporting objects from the EUEM [unx] folders.

You can drag and drop objects to a relevant pane or double-click them. To remove an object from a pane, click it, and then click scr_icon_deselect.png.

    1. Performance cube selector object from the Cube Selectors folder. Selectors specify performance cubes on which you can build a new report.
    2. Objects of the Measure and Dimension type that you want to see in a report. Select the objects that refer to the performance cube that you selected in the Cube Selectors folder.
    3. Filters that you want to apply to the data in the report (objects of the Filter type)
    4. Performance cube. Select the same performance cube that the other objects that you selected for the report refer to.
  7. Click Run query.

The table with the required data set is displayed in the workspace panel. Now you can add objects from the Available Objects tab into charts and tables to build your report.

Note

You can sort a tabular report by clicking a column title, selecting Sort, and choosing a sort value.

You can save this report for later use, send it via email, or edit it to view data from a compatible performance cube.
