Command-line interface

Although you routinely use the web interface of the BMC Application Performance Management Console, some configuration tasks for the Console and Performance Analytics Engine components require you to use the command-line interface (CLI):

Accessing the CLI

Note

To access the CLI remotely, the SSH Access option (Administration tab) must be switched on. See Controlling-remote-access-to-the-command-line-interface.

To access the system CLI, you must use the CLI system account. By default, the credentials for the CLI system account are as follows:

Recommendation

These default credentials are publicly available. BMC recommends that you change the password when you log on the the first time.

To access the CLI and display the list of commands

  1. Open an SSH connection with the IP address of the component's management port as the target, as shown in the following figure.

  2. At the prompt, type clisystem as the user ID and the password, and press Enter.
  3. Type help and press Enter.

As shown in the following figure, a list of CLI commands is displayed.

To change the password

  1. Log on to the CLI.
  2. At the BMCEUEM> prompt, type password ad press Enter.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the password.
