Accessing and logging on to the interfaces

This topic describes the various user interfaces for BMC Application Performance Management and how to log on to the BMC Application Performance Management Console (Console).

BMC Application Performance Management interfaces

The BMC Application Performance Management Console (Console) is the preferred interface for accessing the plug-in components that it contains, such as the Diagnostics tab from BMC Application Diagnostics. The Real User Analyzer, Real User Collector, and Real User Monitor components can be accessed from their own web-based interfaces; however, BMC recommends that you use the links on the Console interface to access them.

The following image illustrates the various BMC Application Performance Management interfaces.

Before you begin

The system must be configured so that all users can access it.

The Collector and Analyzer components must be connected to the Console.

To access and log on the user interfaces

  1. In the address bar of your browser, enter the IP address to access your system (for example, 192.0.2.10)

  2. On the Logon page, enter your user credentials, and click Logon. Consult the following topics for information about user accounts and permissions.
  3. Do the following to access the connected components:
    • If you have a tenant role, click the Real User Analyzer from the top of the Console Home page. Tenants (Application Owners and Observers) can only access the Real User Analyzer from the Console.
    • For all other roles with permission, select System Deployment > Components > Status to access the Real User Collector and Real User Analyzer.

The Aggregation Server for Extended Reporting interface cannot be access from the Console. For information about logging on to this component, see Logging-on-to-the-Aggregation-Server-for-Extended-Reporting-web-interface.

Warning

The separate Real User Analyzer and Real User Collector interfaces contain controls that are useful only if you access these components directly. If you use these components after drilling down from the Console, the configuration changes that you expect, will not be present. Your changes will produce no results when drilling down from the Console.

Recommendations
  • Always access the system components from the Console interface.
  • When you have drilled down to the interfaces of other components, do not to use controls that are applicable only to direct access to these components.
