Extended monitoring capabilities to end-user metrics in rich internet applications

BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring now has extended monitoring capabilities to end-user metrics in internet applications, such as rich internet applications (RIAs). Monitoring of internet applications uses components from the BMC Application Diagnostics product.

For information about configuring monitoring for end-user metrics, see End-to-end-process-for-collecting-end-user-metrics.

Enhancements to synthetic monitoring

Synthetic transaction monitoring includes the following enhancements with version 2.5.01:

  • Custom timers and page timers. Synthetic results now include results for custom timers and page times that are defined in a script. You can view the results of synthetic transaction monitoring on the Session Browser page (in the Real User Analyzer) or in the Session Overview page (on the Performance Analysis pages in the BMC Application Performance Management Console).
  • Device configuration pack. Automatically configures the Real User Analyzer or Real User Monitor so that you can more quickly realize value from your monitored synthetic transactions. For information about implement the device configuration, see Implementing-Synthetic-Device-Configuration-Pack-2-5-01. For a description of the configured items, see Recommended-configuration-for-synthetic-monitoring-2-5-01.
  • TEA Agent self monitoring. The BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent now displays self-monitoring statistics for you to check that the Agent is functioning as expected. The Transaction Execution Adapter Agents page in the BMC Application Performance Management Console (Synthetic tab, TEA Agents menu) displays the percentage and number of rejected transactions over the last 15 minutes. For more information about the self-monitoring statistics, see Viewing-a-list-of-TEA-Agents.

Additionally, the Agent Groups page (Synthetic tab, TEA Agent Groups menu) displays the number of Execution Plans assigned to each Agent Group and indicates if the number is over capacity. For more information about Execution Plan capacity, see Maximum-Execution-Plan-capacity.

Synthetic transaction monitoring is a separate product, licensed as Borland-Silk-Performer-Synthetic-Transaction-Monitoring-for-BMC-Software-version-15-00.

Ability to search for LDAP groups from the Console

When specifying groups to map to BMC Application Performance Management Console roles, you no longer need to know the exact names of the groups on your LDAP server. The improved Edit Role Mapping page now starts filtering group names as you start typing any known character string in the group name.

The way in which you modify the role mappings has also been streamlined. Now, instead of having to return to the Role Mapping page to select a role to edit, you can edit all role mappings from the Role Mappings page.

For more information about these LDAP configuration improvements, see Mapping LDAP groups to user roles for the Console.

Enhancements in configuring a database for Extended Reporting

You are no longer required to use a specific Oracle instance name when configuring an Oracle database.

Improvements in the Session Overview

When locating the root cause of problems by using the Session Overview, you can now see the delivery mode for pages and objects.
