Performing the Real User Cloud Probe installation
The Real User Cloud Probe monitors the network performance of traffic to a virtual machine through a cloud provider. The Cloud Probe sends information through the Real User Collector on a BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring system. Perform the following procedure to install the Cloud Probe through an installation wizard. You can also install the Cloud Probe silently.

Before you begin
Before you install the Cloud Probe, ensure that the following requirements are fulfilled:
- Check out the system requirements for Cloud Probe
- Acquire Operator-level account credentials for the Real User Collector from the system administrator.
- Install required software and hardware.
- Configure the Network Time Protocol.
- Configure the monitored network information card for the Cloud Probe.
- Download the installation files to the virtual machine.
- To use the installation wizard, you must set up a DISPLAY environment. For information, refer to your operating system documentation.
To install the Real User Cloud Probe on Linux
Before you run the installation utility, set up a DISPLAY environment.
- Log in to the virtual machine as root.
- Go to the Disk1 directory and run the ./setup.sh command.
- On the Welcome page of the installation wizard, click Next.
- Read the License Agreement and select I agree to the terms of the license agreement to continue.
Click Next. - Type or browse to a destination directory.
By default, the /opt/bmc/CloudProbe directory is used.
Click Next. - Enter the following connection details for the Real User Collector, and then click Next:
- IP address or DNS name of the computer with the Collector installation
- Port number of the Collector (by default, 443)
- Collector user name
- Collector password
Enter the Cloud Probe name and select the monitored network card from the list. Click Next.
The Cloud Probe Name can have up to 60 alphanumeric characters, hyphens (-), and underscore characters (_). The name is displayed in the Real User Collector.
- Review the installation details.
If necessary, click Previous to change installation details. Otherwise, click Install. - Review the details in the Installation Summary page.
To view the installation logs, click the View Log button, or go to /tmp/cloudprobe_install_log.txt. - To close the installation utility, click Done.
- If you use encrypted traffic, configure the SSL keys for traffic decryption.
To install the Real User Cloud Probe on Windows
Download and install latest version of WinPcap.
WinPcap is a packet capture driver that is necessary for correct functioning of Cloud Probe under Windows.- Extract the files from the Cloud Probe binary download.
- Run the Real User Cloud Probe installation file (setup.cmd) as Administrator.
Right click on setup.cmd and select Run as administrator. - In the Directory Destination step of the installation wizard, select installation destination folder and click Next.
- In the Real User Collector Configuration step, provide Real User Collector details:
- IP or DNS name and port
- Security or Operator user account and password
In the BMC Real User Cloud Probe Configuration step, specify the display name of the Cloud Probe instance and the monitored network card. Click Install.
- After installation, ensure that the staging folder <InstallationDir>\cloudprobe\staging has WRITE permissions enabled for Administrators group.
