Assembling the system

Before you begin

BMC recommends to assemble the system under user account with Operator or Administrator role. So prior to assembling components, the Security user must create an Operator or Administrator account.

Also, if you are using the Console, the Security user must perform the following tasks in the Analyzer to enable connectivity between an Analyzer (or Monitor) and the Console:

Note: The Console does not warn you if these settings are not configured properly.

To assemble the system

Assemble the system by connecting at least one Real User Collector to at least one Real User Analyzer and adding the Collector and the Analyzer to the BMC Application Performance Management Console.

To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.

  • Connecting Collector feeds to the Analyzer instance
  • Adding Analyzer and Performance Analytics Engine components to the Console

Note

You must create at least one Collector feed and then configure the Analyzer to connect to that data feed.

As a result, the data gathered by the Real User Collector will be available on both the Console and the Analyzer for further analysis. The procedures for adding the Analyzer and the Collector components to the Console are the same.

Note

It is important to have the date and time settings of all component instances synchronized. For some component types (BMC Application Performance Management Console and Performance Analytics Engine), you cannot configure remote logging through a web interface, so you must use the command-line interface (CLI) and the date command. For more information, see date (API command).
