Instrumenting pages with JavaScript code

If your web application uses external content providers, such as Akamai, you must set up Akamai instrumentation, so that the system could correctly calculate page-render time metric. To do this, add the content of the Web-beacon-JavaScript-library (or a script element that references this library) to the HTML pages of your web application.

You can instrument pages in any of the following ways:

  • Enclose the content of the web beacon JavaScript library within the <head> element of your HTML pages.
  • Add a script element that references the web beacon JavaScript library within the <head> element of your HTML pages.
  • Inject the script element that references the web beacon JavaScript library into the top of the header section of your HTML pages via Akamai.
  • Inject the script element that references the web beacon JavaScript library into the top of the header section of your HTML pages via a front-end device, such as a load balancer.
