Adding components to the Console
To access captured and analyzed data on the Application Performance Management Console, you must add at least one Real User Analyzer instance to the Console instance. To use Performance Analytics Engine functionality, you must add at least one instance of this component, too. And, to make drill-downs to a Real User Colector instance possible, you must add it to the Console.
Alternatively, instead of connecting Analyzer and Collector components, you can add BMC TrueSight End User Monitor 4200 Series component. This allows to minimize the hardware costs and optimize the deployment and configuration efforts.
Before you begin
If you want to use the DNS hostname of your component instances (rather than the IP address), you must set DNS parameters on the Console before adding components to it.
To add a component instance to the Console
- On the System Deployment menu of the Console, click Components.
The list of all components connected to the Console opens. - On the Action menu, click Add Component.
- Type IP address of the component or the DNS name, for example 10.160.1.63.
- Accept the default value of 443 in Port.
- In the Component Group box, enter the name of the sub-group, to which you want to include the component.
When you select this group for upgrade, the system upgrades all components that it contains. For more information, read Installing-the-updates. - (Optional) Enable SSH by selecting the check box.
- Type the user name and password for the Security account. The system uses this account for API calls between the Console and the Analyzer.
- Click Save.
Result
The instance is now added to the Components page of the Console. See the explanation of possible statuses in a table below.
Component statuses
Status | Description |
---|---|
OK | The connection is established. |
ERROR |
|
UNKNOWN | The Console is trying to establish a connection to the component. |
After connecting the components to each other and adding them to the Console, the system can start pulling traffic data into the configured Watchpoints.
Real User Analyzer components appear on the Home page of the Console so that you can quickly drill down into any of them.
