Configuring SMTP settings
For email-based features to function properly, configure a connection between this device and an SMTP server. To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher.
Before you begin
Before you establish a connection with the SMTP server, you must know the following information:
- IP address of the SMTP server that will deliver emails generated by the device
- Port that the specified SMTP server will use
- Email addresses that the device will use to send and receive emails
- Security level for the connection
If your SMTP server is configured to send authentication credentials, you must know the user name and password that recipients will use.
To configure a сonnection with the SMTP server
- On the Real User Analyzer, go to the Administration > Integration > Mail server page.
- On the Action menu, click Edit.
- In the SMTP Server box, enter the IP address of the SMTP server that will deliver emails generated by the device.
- In the SMTP Port box, enter the port number that the SMTP server will use.
By default, the device uses port 25. In the From box, enter the email address that will populate the From field in the BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring
emails.
- In the Reply tobox, enter the email address that will receive replies to emails generated by BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring.
- In the authentication list, perform one of the following actions:
- If your SMTP server is configured to send authentication credentials, click Use Authentication and fill in the Username and Password boxes.
If your SMTP server is not configured to send authentication credentials, click Don't use authentication.
- In the Connection security level list, click the appropriate security level, for example, STARTTLS.
- Click Save.
Connection with the SMTP server is configured.
