Viewing a list of TEA Agents

A BMC Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent is a remote agent that runs Execution Plans as part of an Agent Group. For information about installing and registering TEA Agents, see Performing-the-TEA-Agent-installation.

In the BMC Application Performance Management Console, the list of TEA Agents displays the status and properties of registered Agents.

To view a list of TEA Agents

In the BMC Application Performance Management Console, click the Synthetic tab, then click TEA Agents. A list of registered Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agents is displayed.

To sort the list based on a specific column, click the relevant column heading. To sort in reverse order, click the column heading again.

The following table describes the contents of the Transaction Execution Adapter Agents table:

Description of Transaction Execution Adapter Agents table

Column

Description

Status

Displays the status of TEA Agent, according to the TEA Agent heartbeat received by the BMC Synthetic End User Experience Monitoring plug-in:

  • Active. The plug-in has received a heartbeat signal from the TEA Agent in the last five minutes. A heartbeat signal is sent every 30 seconds.
  • Inactive. The plug-in has not received a heartbeat signal from the TEA Agent for more than five minutes.
  • Stale. The plug-in has not received a heartbeat signal from the TEA Agent for more than 48 hours. In version 2.5.01, if an Agent is no longer in use, you can delete it from the list after it reaches the stale status.

To filter by status, select an option from the Status list.

Heartbeat

Time and date of the last heartbeat received by the plug-in.

(Version 2.5.01) Hover over the heartbeat time to see the TEA Agent registration time and date.

Agent Name

Name of the Agent. Hover over the name to see the Agent ID number, which is used in filters and log files.

To filter by Agent name, type a value in the column heading.

(Version 2.5.00) FQDN

Fully qualified domain name of the host computer

To filter by FQDN name, type a value in the column heading.

(Version 2.5.01)
Host Name

Name of the host computer

To filter by host name, type a value in the column heading.

Agent Group

Name of the Agent Group to which the TEA Agent belongs

To filter by Agent Group, type a value in the column heading.

(Version 2.5.00)
Registration Date

Date the Agent was registered with the synthetic plug-in

(Version 2.5.01)
Rejected Transactions
Last 15 minutes

Percentage of transactions that were rejected over the last 15 minutes, and the number of rejected transactions over the total number of transactions. For example, the result 50% 20/40 means that 20 out of 40 transactions (that is, 50%) were not collected over the last 15 minutes. The result 0% 0/60 means that of the 60 transactions that were collected, none of them were rejected.

If the TEA Agent is not active, the result is 0/0.

This column provides self-monitoring statistics to ensure that the Agent is functioning as expected. A typical cause of rejected transactions is system clocks that are not synchronized. For information about synchronizing computer times, see Setting-the-system-time.

After you open the Transaction Execution Adapter Agents window, click Refresh to get the latest results.

To delete a TEA Agent from the list (version 2.5.01)

If a TEA Agent is no longer in use, you can delete it from the list after it reaches the stale status. If a TEA Agent sends a heartbeat after you delete it from the BMC Application Performance Management Console, the Agent registers with a new Agent ID.

  1. In the BMC Application Performance Management Console, click the Synthetic tab, then click TEA Agents.
  2. (Optional) From the Status column, select Stale.
  3. From the shortcut menu of the stale Agent that you want to delete, select Delete TEA Agent.
  4. Click OK to confirm the deletion.
