Creating session termination rules
Termination rules define the conditions under which the system considers a session ended. If the user continues generating traffic after the
has stopped tracking the session, a new session record starts.To create a session termination rule
- In a , point to Administration > Data flow settings and click Session detection.
- In the view selector, click Termination rules.
- On the Action menu, click New rule.
- Enter a name and a description for the rule.
- In the Filter field, define the subset of traffic with a filter expression.
- In the Termination conditions section, define the conditions under which the system considers a session as ended:
- if inactive for — The duration of inactivity by the user
- or after maximum of ... of lifespan — The maximum session lifetime, after which the system considers the session ended
- or after collecting maximum of ... objects — The maximum number of objects that can be loaded during the session, after which the system considers the session ended
- or when a specific event occurs ... followed by ... seconds of inactivity —
The definition of an event that marks the session end (for example, (url.stem_string endswith "logout.jsp" ignorecase)) and the duration of a period of inactivity after which the system considers the session ended
- Click Save.
The session termination rule is created - In the termination rules list, locate the new rule and click ON.
The rule is activated.
