Dashboards and dashlets
A dashboard is a visualization tool that provides an at-a-glance view of statistics. You can access and work with dashboards in the following ways:
- : Dashboards menu in the Home tab
- : Dashboards tab
Dashboards consist of dashlets, each of which provides a separate metric visualization.
A dashlet is a configurable pane on a dashboard that represents a particular metric. It provides a summary of end-user or application performance information that gives context about the health of your application.
Dashlets help you determine:
- What to monitor
- Whether your system has a problem
- Whether a problem needs immediate attention
The set of dashlets that you can add to the dashboard is different for each component. For example, the Watchpoints and the Incident Details dashlets are available only on the Analyzer component. Also, availability and performance data are presented as one dashlet on the Console component and as two dashlets on the Analyzer component.
You can customize each dashlet's display settings and data type, such as dashlet title, time range, Watchpoint context, and so on.
Group similar dashlets together to visually distinguish them from other dashlets on a dashboard. For example, you can group incident-related dashlets to distinguish them from performance-related dashlets.
After you have added all the dashlets to the dashboard, you can arrange the dashlets within the dashboard to easily view your data.
