To assign a data storage location

    , and click Data Storage.

  2. On the Action menu, click Add Data Storage.
The Edit Data Storage form appears.
  3. Select a protocol for storage:
    • Network File System (NFS) — A file system typically used for accessing files over a network on a UNIX operating system. When the system administrator configures the server for NFS, you must specify the IP address of the server and the name of the folder (path) that has been created for storage.
    • Server Message Block/Common Internet File System (SMB/CIFS) — A protocol that is typically used on a Windows operating system. When the system administrator configures the server for SMB/CIFS, you must specify the IP address or host name of the server and the share name. If the storage location requires authentication, enter the user name and password provided by the system administrator. If authentication is executed via Microsoft Windows Domain Controller, enter the name of the domain.
  4. Enter the IP address or DNS name of the data storage server.
  5. Enter the share name.
  6. (Optional) Enter the user name and password for the Security account to access the storage.
  7. (Optional) Enter the domain name.
  8. Specify the maximum storage size (in gigabytes).
Type a number smaller than the disk space available in the share. The storage mechanism uses a rolling buffer so that as it fills up, older data is deleted to make room for newer data (first in, first out, or FIFO). However, you must avoid using all the space available, so specify a somewhat smaller maximum storage size. For detailed sizing information, see Sizing-Performance-Analytics-Engine-instances.
  9. Click Save.
