Selecting an account-management model
The system provides the following account types:
- Local accounts — The system handles authentication and authorization through its own passwords and roles.
- LDAP-managed accounts — The system manages the authentication and authorization of accounts by using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) or a hybrid approach in which the LDAP server handles authentication and
When LDAP handles authorization, the Administrator configures role mappings, which associate LDAP groups with access levels (roles). handles authorization.
To establish how the device authenticates and authorizes users, select the account-management model for the device.
To select an account-management model
- In a component, point to Administration > General Settings, and then click Accounts & LDAP management.
- Select the LDAP settings view.
- To set the account-management model, click the appropriate one of the following options:
