System information and licenses
For diagnostic and monitoring purposes, you need basic information about the state of your system. The System information and licenses page in the Analyzer and Collector components shows information about the status of essential services, network parameters, and the software version that the device is running.
If a user with the Security role has enabled the Automatic page reload service, you can use the Start and Stop buttons on this page to start or stop the reload countdown. To make the system refresh data statistics, click Reload now.
You can also download diagnostic and registration files, upload a license file, or report a problem to BMC directly from this page.
Device profile and internal resource usage
The upper part of the System information and licenses page shows full information about the system profile. A display panel also shows the status of the system capture ports.
Device profile and internal resource usage Information
Label | Description |
|---|---|
Display panel | The panel shows the status of the device capture ports. This panel is disabled on Real User Analyzer components. |
Family | The type of BMC product |
ID | The serial number of the device |
Model | The model number of the device |
Revision | The revision of the device |
Crypto accelerator | Indicates whether cryptographic operations are handled locally or by a hardware based accelerator |
CPU load average | The average number of processes in the CPU run queue during the last minute |
Total session data space | The amount of disk space reserved for storing session data |
Used session data space | The amount of disk space currently used to store session data |
Total memory available | The amount of RAM on the device |
Used memory | The amount of RAM currently used in the system |
Total swap space available | The total amount of disk space set aside for virtual memory on the device |
Used swap space | The amount of disk space currently used for virtual memory |
Last restart | The last time that the device restarted |
License Information section
There are different BMC license types that control the capabilities of your device, such as the number of Watchpoints you can have available at one time on a given Real User Analyzer component. The License Information section of the System information and licenses page displays the licenses installed on the device, its installation date, expiry date, and other parameters.
Diagnostics section
The Diagnostics section of the System information and licenses page shows information about how the packet capture, data engine, and other processes work. Each process can be in one of multiple states, including OK and Failed.
Diagnostic information
Section heading | Label | Description |
|---|---|---|
Packet capture | Life check | Indicates whether the packet capture process is alive |
| Memory check | Indicates whether the packet capture process is using unusual amounts of memory |
| CPU check | Indicates whether the packet capture process is using an unusual CPU utilization |
| Delay check | Indicates whether the packet capture service is still responding |
SNMP | Life check | Indicates whether the SNMP process is alive |
| Memory check | Indicates whether the SNMP process is using unusual amounts of memory |
| CPU check | Indicates whether the SNMP process is using an unusual CPU utilization |
Data engine | Input queue boundary | Indicates whether the system is still processing data |
| Last process time | Shows the most recent system time that the system processed data |
Database | Life check | Indicates whether the database process is alive |
| Memory check | Indicates whether the database process is using unusual amounts of memory |
| CPU check | Indicates whether the database process is using an unusual CPU utilization |
| Connection check | Indicates whether the database is maintaining an unusually high or low number of connections |
Network Parameters section
The Network Parameters section of the System information and licenses page shows information about the device network parameters. Network parameters are assigned when the hardware platform is installed in your data center or, in the case of a BMC Virtual Appliance, when the appliance is deployed. You can change network parameters only through the command-line interface (CLI).
Network parameter information
Label | Description |
|---|---|
Management interface IP address | IP address of the device's management interface |
Default gateway IP address | IP address of the device's default gateway |
Management interface MAC address | MAC address of the device's management interface |
Capture interface MAC address | MAC address associated with the device's management interface |
Version Information section
The Version Information section of the System information and licenses page shows the version number and installation date of the system images installed on this device. Usually, system images include rescue, system1, and system2.
Packet Capture File section
The Packet Capture File section of the System information and licenses page on the Real User Collector provides a link to the tar-zipped archive containing a file that stores all packets seen on the capture ports.
