This topic describes the key features in version 4.0.00 of the BMC PATROL for iSeries product. 

The 4.0.00 version of PATROL for iSeries has been completely redesigned. With the 4.0.00 release, the iSeries KM can be installed on PATROL Agents 9.5 or later, running on Microsoft Windows ServerRed Hat Enterprise LinuxSuse Linux operating systems to be monitored remotely. PATROL for iSeries 4.0.00 reports and monitors availability and performance across critical areas of your iSeries operating system. It issues visual warnings and alarms when thresholds are exceeded, allowing easy identification of problem areas. It also allows remote, concurrent monitoring of multiple iSeries and AS/400 systems from a single PATROL, Central Monitoring Administration console.

Support for remote monitoring of the iSeries hosts 

PATROL for iSeries lets you monitor and manage your iSeries environment remotely. It monitors the availability of your servers, which includes the following objects:The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline. Click on this message for details.

Enable or disable monitored objects

Filters are available at each monitor type level to enable or disable the component from monitoring. You can filter one or more of the following objects to streamline your configuration. For more information, see Configuring-iSeries-monitor-type.

  • Standard monitoring - System, Pool, User and Batch monitor types only.
  • Advanced monitoring - All available monitor types. 

To enable advanced monitoring, select/clear the monitor types from Advanced Configuration CMA UI.


Ability to add multiple hosts for remote monitoring 

If you want to use the same configuration to monitor large number of hosts, you can configure the remote hosts from a file. The file must contain a list of comma separated host names, IP addresses or publish host names that have common credentials. The Status of Configuration parameter indicates errors related to the input file. For more information, see Configuring-iSeries-monitor-type.
