Upgrading


The topics in this section describe how to upgrade BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere.

Upgrading in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management environment

While deploying a new version of BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere (KM) in a BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management environment, there are no specific steps to upgrade. You can deploy the KM as discussed in Installing.

Upgrading in BMC PATROL environment

This section provides information about upgrading the BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere Knowledge Module (KM).

To upgrade the PATROL for VMware vSphere KM in the PATROL Central environment

  1. Stop the PATROL Central console.
  2. Install or upgrade the KM to version 4.0.00 on the PATROL Agent machine.
  3. Install or upgrade the KM to version 4.0.00 on the Console Server machine.

    Note

    If the KM was pre-loaded, pre-load the VSM.kml again after the upgrade. If the KM was not pre-loaded, then load the VSM.kml according to the needs of the environment you want to monitor.

  4. Stop and start the PATROL Console Server service.
  5. Start the PATROL Central console and connect to the PATROL Agent.

To upgrade the PATROL for VMware vSphere KM in the PATROL Classic console environment

  1. Stop the PATROL Classic console.
  2. Backup the PATROL Classic console cache and then delete the cache.
  3. Install or upgrade the KM to version 4.0.00 on the PATROL Agent machine.

    Note

    If the KM was pre-loaded, pre-load the VSM.kml again after the upgrade. If the KM was not pre-loaded, then load the VSM.kml according to the needs of the environment you want to monitor.

  4. Install or upgrade the KM to version 4.0.00 on the PATROL Classic console machine.
  5. Start the PATROL Classic console and connect to the PATROL Agent.
