Creating host and virtual machine reports in VMware environment
In PATROL for VMware vSphere, you can access several reports that enable you to access inventory data and performance data of the hosts (ESX servers) and virtual machines contained in the VMware environment.
Creating the list of all Virtual Machines report
You can use the List All Virtual Machines dialog box to create and save a report that lists all of the virtual machines for a host (ESX server).
- Access the VSM_HOST application class menu, depending on whether you are using the logical or physical view, as described in Accessing-KM-menu-commands.
- Choose the List all Virtual Machines menu command to display the List All Virtual Machines dialog box.
The dialog box lists all the virtual machines associated to the managed system displayed. - Click Save to save the virtual machines report to a file in the directory specified in the Save to file text box.
Creating the Top 10 ESX Hosts report
You can use the Top 10 ESX Hosts dialog box to create and save a report that lists the top ten hosts (ESX servers) and those hosts' connected virtual machines that are using the most CPU resources. The data contained in the report is organized first by the host connection with its virtual machines listed below.
- Access the VSM application class menu as described in Accessing-KM-menu-commands.
- Choose the Top 10 ESX Hosts menu command to display the Top10 ESX Hosts dialog box.
The dialog box lists the top ten hosts and its associated virtual machines consuming CPU resources in your enterprise - Click Save to save the hosts report to a file in the directory specified in the Save to file text box.
Creating the Enterprise Inventory report
You can create and save a report that summarizes all physical hosts (ESX servers) and their associated virtual machines for each vCenter connection.
- Access the VSM application class menu as described in Accessing-KM-menu-commands.
- Choose the Enterprise Inventory Report menu command to display the Enterprise Inventory Report dialog box.
The dialog box lists all the hosts and virtual machines contained in your enterprise. - Click Save to save the enterprise inventory report to a file in the directory specified in the Save to file text box.
