Configuring BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere

You can configure BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere by using either PATROL Configuration Manager or BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration.

Using PATROL Configuration Manager

To configure VMware vCenter Server for monitoring by using PATROL Configuration Manager, add the following set of agent configuration variables, and apply it on the BMC PATROL Agent that runs BMC PATROL for VMware vSphere.

  • "/VSM/Global/SERVICE_URL" = {REPLACE = "vCenter;port;user"},
  • "/SecureStore/VSM_VC/vCenter/user" = {REPLACE = "VSM;VSM_VC;VSM_HOST;VSM_EVENTS_CNTR/password"},
  • "/VSM/VC/vCenter/DeviceHostnameLookupOrder" = {REPLACE = "DNSNAME"},
  • "/VSM/VC/vCenter/FilterVMSDNS" = {REPLACE = "^$\A2"},
  • "/VSM/VC/vCenter/FilterVMSIP" = {REPLACE = "^$\A2"},
  • "/VSM/VC/vCenter/HostScsiExclude" = {REPLACE = "1"},
  • "/VSM/VC/vCenter/IncludeVMTemplates" = {REPLACE = "0"},

Example

VMware vCenter Server name = prodvCenter01

VMware vCenter Server username = patrol

VMware vCenter Server password = pa$$word

The values for the agent configuration variables are as follows:

  • "/VSM/Global/SERVICE_URL" = {REPLACE = "prodvCenter01;443;patrol"},
  • "/SecureStore/VSM_VC/prodvCenter01/patrol" = {REPLACE = "VSM;VSM_VC;VSM_HOST;VSM_EVENTS_CNTR/pa$$word"},
  • "/VSM/VC/prodvCenter01/DeviceHostnameLookupOrder" = {REPLACE = "DNSNAME"},
  • "/VSM/VC/prodvCenter01/FilterVMSDNS" = {REPLACE = "^$\A2"},
  • "/VSM/VC/prodvCenter01/FilterVMSIP" = {REPLACE = "^$\A2"},
  • "/VSM/VC/prodvCenter01/HostScsiExclude" = {REPLACE = "1"},
  • "/VSM/VC/prodvCenter01/IncludeVMTemplates" = {REPLACE = "0"}
