9.13.00.02: Patch 2 for BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux

The BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00.02 patch corrects an issue reported in 9.13.00 version of BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux. This topic also includes updates provided in this patch and instructions for downloading and installing the patch.

For information about issues corrected in this patch, see Known-and-corrected-issues.

Updates in the patch

This section describes the updates provided in BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00.02.

Note

The Data Collection Manager (DCM) executable version in BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.13.00.02 is 9.5.00.6069.

Enhancment in the Swap application class

The _Total instance of SWAP application class now displays the total value of all devices, and the Summary instance of SWAP application class displays the sum of total value of all devices and main memory values.

New pconfig variable

BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux now supports a new pconfig variable, externFqdn

You can use the externFqdn pconfig variable to set MetaFQDN value of remote host instances in the following scenarios so that the hosts are displayed as devices in the BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console.

  • If DNS is not configured
  • If nslookup command does not work

The path and format for externFqdn pconfig variable is as follows:

"/REMOTE/HOSTS/<<hostname>>/externFqdn"= {REPLACE = "<<FQDN>/<IP Address>>"}

Example,

Replace <<FQDN>/<IP Address>> with xyz.bmc.com/10.10.10.10

Note

  • You need to add this variable manually per remote host level.
  • You must restart the PATROL Agent after the pconfig value is set.

Downloading the patch and installation utility

This section provides the information that you need to download and install the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. To download the patch and installation utility from the EPD website, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
  7. You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
Using Component View
