Number of Free Inodes (FSFreeInodes)
Description
This parameter displays the number of I-nodes available. An I-node is a data structure that maintains information about each file. Measuring I-nodes is critical because once all of your I-nodes have been used, the file system will not accept any more files regardless of how much disk space is available.
Recommendations
If you run out of I-nodes, review the files in your file system and determine if any files can be deleted. If your file system contains a few large files, you should create the file system with a small number of I-nodes. The fewer I-nodes there are, the faster your system can access a file. If your file system contains many small files, you should create the file system with a large number of I-nodes. Because the number of I-nodes for a file system varies, no default range thresholds have been set by default. With the combination of your experience with your system and your system's documentation, you can set range thresholds that are meaningful.
