Scripts for Synthetic Monitoring

With the PATROL for Synthetic Monitoring knowledge module, you can use custom scripts to monitor web applications and workflows.

You can customize scripts by defining variables in the monitor policy. Customized scripts can easily adapt to different authentication methods and application-specific requirements. You can also use customized scripts to replicate user activity, validate page responses, and track performance across key transactions, such as login, search, or checkout.

Use STM timers to measure the duration of specific actions, and functions like set_availability_error and set_accuracy_error to log custom error messages. This helps you clearly report any issues that occur within BMC Helix Operations Management.

Example

As an administrator, Sarah customizes the script to handle single sign-on instead of a basic login operation. Additionally, she applies a timer to the login transaction to measure the response time. Sarah also customizes the script to record a custom error message for failed authentication, which she can use for reporting the issue.

For details about browser-specific drivers and transaction measurements, see the following modules:

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
