User goals and features


PATROL for Scripting provides the ability to configure, distribute, and run user-defined scripts locally or remotely from a single PATROL Agent. It also provides some out of the box scripts to help you get started with the monitoring.

New users

Novice users who have to use the product and require a detailed understanding the product.

Technology Specialist

Administrators are responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the PATROL for Scripting KM implementation.

Some of the tasks executed by an Administrator are:

  • Install the product
  • Create users or configure the KM, create and assign roles and access groups to users
  • Ensure that the PATROL for Scripting environment remains healthy over time, and uses the self-monitoring capabilities provided by the KM

End User

End Users of PATROL for Scripting can represent a variety of different roles, such as IT Operations user and Solution Administrator. Some of the tasks that can be performed by an End User are:

  • Define scripts in any of the supported languages (.sh, .bash, .pl and other UNIX and Linux scripting languages)
  • Configure and run the scripts on remote and local hosts
  • Use built in scripts to monitor your environments

Support

Support of the PATROL for Scripting KM are (internal or external) resources that can seek troubleshooting information about monitoring the KM.
