CCMS Context with unsupported characters not monitored

Data for a specific CCMS Context is not obtained and the corresponding instance of the SSM_CONTEXT_CONT application class is not constructed, due to the existence of unsupported, locale-specific characters within the name of the CCMS Context or the names of container nodes below the CCMS Context. The issue might be accompanied by a bad SQL error.

You can verify the cause of the issue through a trace that you run on the parameter responsible for discovery of CCMS Contexts. To resolve the issue, you must define a pconfig variable that instructs BMC PATROL for SAP Solution Manager to replace the unsupported characters in the constructed CCMS Context object.

To verify and resolve unsupported characters in a CCMS Context

  1. Set up a parameter trace for the _CCMSContextDiscovery parameter of the relevant SAP System (SSM_SID_CONT application class), as described in Setting up a parameter trace.
  2. In the resulting trace, search for errno=96 .
This error message is accompanied by additional details about the CCMS Context and a clear indication of the unsupported characters that are causing the issue.
  3. Define the NotAllowedInstCharacters pconfig variable (described on page 57). In the value for this variable, include each unsupported character on a separate line.
  4. Restart the PATROL Agent.

The unsupported characters are replaced with the underscore character in the CCMS Context's internal object name (as can be seen in various configuration dialog boxes). The label for the CCMS Context continues to display the original name (with the original characters).

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
