System requirement for BMC PATROL for SAP HANA

Support for third-party productsTo receive full support for a BMC product, you must have that product installed in a supported environment, as specified in the BMC product documentation. If a third-party vendor cancels support for one of its products (such as an operating system or subsystem), and that third-party product integrates or interacts with the BMC product you have licensed, you must upgrade to a supported version of that third-party product before BMC Customer Support can provide you with support for the affected BMC product. Before installing BMC PATROL for SAP HANA, verify that the installation requirements listed in the following table are met:

Before starting the PATROL Agent after PATROL for SAP HANA installation, you must copy the SAP HANA database client external jar file, ngdbc.jar from the SAP HANA monitoring studio located at SAP_HANA_ STUDIO_INSTALL_DIR\hdbclient\ngdbc.jar to the following directory, depending on the platform:

(Windows): %PATROL_HOME%\shm\bin\thirdParty

(UNIX): $PATROL_HOME/shm/bin/thirdParty

PATROL products	PATROL Agent version 9.0.00 or later PATROL Installation Utility version 9.6.00 or later
Browser	This product uses PATROL Installation Utility version 9.5.00 or 9.6.00, which requires a browser. For a list of supported browsers, see the PATROL Installation Utility online documentation.
Ports	If you are migrating a PATROL Agent or console with PATROL for SAP HANA, you must specify the port number to connect to all the agent computers. The default port number is 3181.
Minimum hardware requirements	Follow PATROL Agent best practices for capacity requirements in relation to the number of CCMS parameters that you plan to monitor.
Security	Do not use Security level 3 or higher if you are using Enterprise Configuration or the PATROL Advisor. These security levels require passwords to be entered every time the host is accessed.
License	You must have a valid demonstration license (typically good for 30 days) or a permanent license to run your PATROL products. If you do not have a permanent license, contact your BMC Software sales representative or the BMC Software Contract Administration department for licensing information.

Note

BMC products are certified for use on supported operating system versions. BMC does not explicitly test for OS patches/updates that are released after a BMC product is released.

BMC products should work fine with minor updates to these supported operating systems. For assistance, please contact BMC Customer Support.

Java requirements

It is recommended to use Oracle Java version 1.8 for BMC PATROL for SAP HANA on the PATROL Agent computer.

Note

If the Java path which is used to run PATROL for SAP HANA Java external Collector is different from the default Java path defined by the host computer's system variables, update the Java path settings. For more information, see SAP HANA Direct connection setup.

BMC PATROL for SAP HANA requires about 0.5 megabytes of Java process memory for each monitored SAP HANA parameter.

Any operating system supported by the SAP HANA Jdbc connector ngdbc.jar.
